McDonalds Asia and their new Developmental Licensee partner in Indonesia, Rekso National Foods (RNF) began looking in 2009 for a new 4PL cold chain solution for the entire country. RNF needed a service provider that could handle a long term aggressive growth plan and offer a complete set of solutions for all of their logistical needs. With nearly 30 years of experience in Asia and numerous success stories with McDonalds and other global customers, HAVI Logistic Services (HLS) was definitely the answer. A plan soon developed to change McDonald’s existing 3PL service provider to HAVI Indonesia - a Global Lead Logistics Provider.
"By successfully expanding our business to Indonesia, we continue to grow our concept of being an Asia wide Lead Logistics Provider for our global customers” said Bill O’Brien, President of HLS Asia at the launch of operations.
The HLS Asia team with Project Leader Sundaraj Balakrishnan and HAVI’s new Country General Manager for Indonesia Wellington Foo, quickly put together an aggressive solution for launching one of Indonesia’s first Cold Chain 4PL solutions. The process began with the hiring of nearly 100 new employees and training at HAVI’s award winning Distribution Centers in Singapore and China.
To address the logistical challenges that Indonesia faces with its numerous islands and large population, HAVI Indonesia established 3 multi temperature distributions centers. The hub DC is located in the center of the country’s largest city, Jakarta and the two other satellite DC’s are in fast growing areas of Bali and Surabaya. To ensure on time deliveries, HAVI Indonesia also acquired 13 multi-temperature trucks to serve the 98 McDonald stores throughout the country.
HAVI prides itself on its close and strategic relationships with its customers. RNF Indonesia became yet another example of the benefits of having this type of seamless partnership. Though the transition took place during one of Indonesia’s peak festive periods, both teams from RNF and HAVI worked closely to ensure a smooth transition with no disruption to the busy stores. This included the transfer of stock, data, and IT upgrades.
As an added challenge, HAVI Indonesia was also involved in the launch of McDonald’s newest store (and first under RNF) in Bali. The HAVI team worked diligently with McDonald’s to make sure the store opened without a hitch on its grand opening date of December 23rd, 2009.

To support McDonalds growth and other customers, a strong management team has been assembled to ensure that HAVI “Delivers the Promise” to all customers in Indonesia. “Indonesia has huge potential for HAVI in the near and long term future” said O’Brien
The HAVI team in Indonesia will also be looking for additional opportunities to expand its role in the Indonesian market place. If you would like to know more about HAVI Logistic Services, please visit our Website at www.havi-logistics.asia
