Moon Cakes make Mid - Autumn special at RMHC

The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated on September 13th in Hong Kong. It is one of the most important festivals in the Chinese lunar calendar. Moon cakes and lanterns are a traditional part of this festival and family and friends bring them as gifts to share during the festivities.  The moon cake represents the full moon which shines the brightest on this night and people would admire the moon on this special evening.

The HAVI Logistics team in Hong Kong organized a house party to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with the children and their families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Hong Kong. During the party, the team helped the kids make their own moon cakes and each designed their own pattern for their cakes. Afterwards the families enjoyed a buffet dinner while the HAVI volunteers performed a magic show for everyone.

The evening ended with the hand-made mooncakes delivered to each family along with some traditional paper lanterns and fruits.  This event was organized by HAVI HK social services committees. Candy Chau, Assistant S.U.M.S. and Office Admin Manager, was the main organizer who taught the kids making moon cakes and overall coordination with RMH in this event.
